Susie Rodriguez-Molina
Commissioner
Susie Rodriguez-Molina, currently serves as the Director Of Community Relations in
the office of Governmental Relations at the University of Houston. Her professional journey
of executing community relations effort began while working at the Children's Museum of
Houston as a public relations coordinator where she developed her skills for reaching
diverse communities with smart and savvy publicity efforts. Susie then went on to work at
the nation's largest independently owned Hispanic marketing agency, Lopez Negrete
Communications. It was there she conducted cutting-edge community relation campaigns
in the general and Hispanic markets across the U.S. for some Of the largest corporations in
the country, such as, Bank of America, Shell Oil, Tyson Foods and Wal-Mart.
As a native Houstonian, Susie wanted to bring back her skills to the local level and
began working in the public affairs department at KHOU.TV Channel 11. While at Channel
11, Susie managed some of the largest community outreach efforts throughout the city
including station sponsored toy, food and blood drives, local parades and various
community driven outreach efforts. It was there Susie sharpened her skills working with
large scale events, corporate partnerships and civic organizations. Her passion for higher
education brought Susie to work in the Community Outreach division at Houston
Community College. In this role she established key partnerships and communication With
various non-profit groups, community leaders, political officials and K-12 school districts
throughout the city.
As Director of Community Relations for UH, Susie works to collectively Create and
maintain partnerships with various Community organizations, civic and non-profit
organizations as well as local government, She also oversees some of the institution's
largest community outreach events including the March of Dimes Walk and the Mayor's
Back to School Festival and coordinates a number of large scale volunteer efforts for the
University.
A hometown girl, Susie was reared in the city's Acres Home community by
immigrant parents who instilled in her the importance of education. She attended school in
Aldine ISD and is a proud Cougar Alum, obtaining her Bachelor Of Arts in Communications
from the University of Houston. She also holds a Masters of Arts in Higher Education
Administration from Sam Houston State University.
